Children’s Privacy
Last updated 2026-08-23 · M4 Infotech
For parents and teachers. Coil & Climb is a traditional board game. It has no chat, no user-generated content, no links out of the app and no purchases, and it collects no personal information from anyone — child or adult. It does carry advertising: for a child, only a rewarded video they choose to watch, never personalised, and never required to progress.
Why this page exists
Children's privacy is governed by specific rules: the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) in the United States, Article 8 of the GDPR in Europe and the UK, the ICO Age Appropriate Design Code, and the Google Play Families policy and Apple Kids Category guidelines. This page states plainly how the game meets them.
No personal information is collected
COPPA restricts the collection of personal information from children under 13. The game collects none, from any user, of any age: no name, no email, no location, no photographs, no voice, no contacts and no persistent advertising identifier.
Because nothing is collected, there is nothing to obtain parental consent for, nothing stored on a server, and nothing that could be disclosed to a third party.
Advert requests for a child are tagged to Google as child-directed and under the age of consent. That forbids the use of an advertising identifier for personalisation and limits the advert pool to what is allowed for children.
Advertising, and what a child actually sees
A player under 13 — and any player who has not answered the age question — sees one kind of advert only: a rewarded video, behind a button they have to press, in exchange for coins. No banners. Nothing between matches. Nothing when the app opens. Nothing that interrupts a game in progress.
Those adverts are never personalised, and no advertising identifier is used to select them. No board, star or coin needed to finish the game is ever locked behind an advert — a child who never watches one can complete every board.
There are still no in-app purchases, no subscriptions, no loot boxes, no virtual currency that can be bought, and no external payment prompts. The coins and stars in the game are local scorekeeping and cannot be purchased.
No social features and no links out
The game has no chat, no messaging, no friend lists, no leaderboards, no user-generated content and no way to share to social networks. It does not open a web browser or link to any external site from inside gameplay.
Suitable content
The game is a snakes and ladders board. The illustrated snakes are cartoon characters; one reacts with an open mouth when it catches a piece. There is no blood, no realistic violence, no frightening imagery, no gambling simulation and no content unsuitable for young children. It is rated for ages 4 and up.
Sound and motion
Sound is on by default and can be muted at any time with the speaker button on the main screen; the setting is remembered. The game honours the system Reduce Motion setting, which softens the animated effects.
What a parent can control
Everything the game stores is on the device. Deleting the app removes all of it. There is no account to close and no data request to make. See Data & Deletion.
